Individual Presentation Training in Berlin

One-to-one sessions for people with a particular appearance ahead of them, or who want to work on how they come across. 90 minutes per session, in Berlin or online, in German or English.
REQUEST TRAINING

Who the individual training is for

Most people who land on this page are looking for themselves. The training is usually paid for by the employer. If you need a written offer to put in front of your HR department, say so in the first call and you will get one.
We work with doctors at the Charité who give specialist talks. With more than 120 employees at Delivery Hero, one at a time. With executives at Bayer Vital, writing their speeches and then preparing the recording in the studio. With researchers speaking at international conferences.
What these cases have in common: it is always a particular situation, one that goes wrong or should go better. Rhetoric in general is never on the agenda.

Three routes, depending on your goal

In practice it is three to five sessions. How many it takes in your case is decided in the first call, and sometimes two are enough when a single pitch is coming up. The three routes differ less in number than in what happens during the sessions.
The first route is confidence. This is about mindset. We look for the beliefs behind the nerves and work on dissolving them. These sessions have no fixed structure, they develop in conversation.
The second route is communication and delivery skills, the broader of the two: structuring your thoughts, finding your core message, convincing with body and voice. Fixed session structure, tasks between the sessions.
The third route is preparing for a specific appearance, so a particular presentation, a pitch or a conference talk. Beforehand you get a questionnaire that starts you thinking about goal and content. Between sessions you develop the draft and send it to me before the next appointment. That way the session time goes into working and practising, not into reading.

From enquiry to first session

You fill in the form. I call you, and on the phone we work out what this is about and what you are working towards. That call produces a rough plan.
If you need a written offer for your employer, you get it after that. If not, we carry straight on. Either way you get a link to put your sessions into my calendar yourself.
Depending on the route, something reaches you beforehand: the questionnaire if we are preparing an appearance. A note to bring your pitch if it is about a pitch. And if it is about confidence, only the request to turn up rested and to keep your calendar clear before and after.
By the end of the first session there is a detailed plan for the remaining appointments.

How a session runs

  1. A look back at the last session and at the task in between
  2. Setting the goal for today
  3. A new piece of theory
  4. Applying it immediately, usually standing and out loud
  5. Feedback on what you just did
  6. A task for the time until the next appointment
One exception: sessions with a coaching focus, the first of the three routes, do not follow this. An agenda would get in the way there. To warm up I like working with improvised speeches. It loosens things up and trains the thing that comes up most often at work: speaking unprepared and still making a point. On request I film you during the exercises, and the recordings stay with you.

What happens between the sessions

After every session you get a task. The form changes, the principle does not: the new thing has to go out into the real world.
For confidence coaching that means actually standing in front of an audience in between and checking what has shifted. For communication topics, trying a technique in your next meeting. For storytelling and structure, applying a model to a real piece of communication from your working week and bringing the result back. Between appointments you can reach me by phone.
How you notice it worked: in delivery training we watch the recording from the first session during the last one, and the difference is usually bigger than the person expected. On the other routes it shows up between sessions, when someone comes out of a meeting or off a stage and realises the situation ran differently than it used to.

Length, place and price

A session lasts 90 minutes. One session per week is the recommended rhythm, but you choose. On site at Kalckreuthstraße 1-2, 10777 Berlin, or online via Zoom. In German or English, both at native level. We quote on request, since the price depends on the number and format of the sessions.
Looking for training for your team rather than for yourself? Then the group seminars are the better fit.
